I have already made an order on taobao and am waiting for all of the order to come and be consolidated to be shipped to the US. Only half of the items have arrived at the warehouse, however the shipping is almost $200 (more specifically 1080 yuan) for only 11.469kg. This makes absolutely no sense since I’ve ordered from taobao in the past and was charged much less than what I’m being charged now and the order weighed a lot more. Back in 2019, I paid 731 yuan for a 16.477kg package.
I would really appreciate your help because I don’t know what to do and my Mandarin is not very good. I truly do not understand why they are charging me so much for shipping now. I am using 官方空运, which is really same forwarding service I used back in 2019 when I ordered off of taobao. The math doesn’t add up and shipping is exponentially higher than before. I don’t know if this the right amount to charge me or not. Please let me know what you think about the situation and what I should do. Thank you.

I like to do shipping and forwarding directly on the taobao app. I have read your list of prohibited items, however do you know if I can have luggage/suitcases shipped to the US through taobao? I have gone through the list of prohibited items, and I just want to make sure that books can be shipped to the US by Taobao consolidation. Specifically art magazines. They are hard to get in the US and I’ve found so many great ones on Taobao.

Hello Eric. I have been buying from Taobao for rhe past three years. Everytime I did their consolidated shipping to rhe US, the automatic shipping price I had to pay was for rhe air frieght. However, now they are giving me the option to choose between air frieight or ship/sea shipping. It is cheaper than the air freight, but it says the ship/sea shipping will take up to 52 days. I am not familiar with this shipping method and have never done it before. I am considering it because it is the cheaper option, however I don’t want my package to get lost or have issues. Can you tell me more about the ship/sea shipping method and if it is trustworthy or not? Do people’s packages frequently get lost or have issues? Thanks for your help!

I have received almost all of the items and the consolidated shipping came out to be $250 (more specifically 1620 yuan) for only 17.737kg. This makes absolutely no sense since I’ve ordered from taobao in the past and was charged much less than what I’m being charged now and the order weighed a lot more. Back in 2019, I paid 731 yuan for a 16.477kg package. Another thing to point out is that beside each weight it says 小型包裏. I’m not sure what it means, so I would to know if you knew what it meant.
